Behind the Scenes: Simon Bryant's Kitchen Garden
Monday, January 18, 2010
On a hot Saturday, early January, Simon Bryant ‘trod the soil’ in support of The Home Grown Gala Dinner, April 29th 2010, Adelaide Hilton.
Simon invited a handful of keen vegetable ‘growers and eaters’ to see the patch that provides him with tempting produce and relaxing moments. A very excited guest was Simon’s dog, usually banned from the vegetable garden because of a fondness for spinach!
David and Gerry Liljegren, avid vegetable gardeners empathized with the challenges of 43 degree days, shared tales of triumph and disaster from their growing experiences and were interested in Simon’s worm farm.
Capturing images of Rebecca and Greg Kavanagh’s children, Jonah and Darcy, heightened the motivation for the Home Grown Gala Dinner, a celebration of South Australian produce benefiting the future Kitchen Garden in the Botanic Gardens of Adelaide.
Thanks to Simon for sharing his garden, to Andrew Beveridge of asb creative for taking the shots that will feature in our forthcoming Foundation News and to the visitors for resisting the tomatoes, the basil….roll on the Home Grown Gala Dinner!
Home Grown Gala Dinner, 29th April 2010 will launch the Foundation’s campaign to raise funds for a Kitchen Garden in the Botanic Gardens to educate and inspire others to create home and community edible gardens.
