Adelaide Botanic Gardens

On Wednesday 27th October 2010, 63 guests enjoyed a luncheon under the Wisteria in the Adelaide Botanic Gardens to raise funds to prosper the Garden of Health collection.

Our guests were welcomed onto the Schomburgk Pavilion by the Adelaide Youth Orchestra and a delicious canapes service matched with wonderful wines by Jacob's Creek.  Some guests had enjoyed the pre-luncheon tour hosted with thanks by the Friends of the Botanic Gardens of Adelaide.  The nearby Wisteria was open to the guests as part of the Garden Delights Pamper Zone and guests enjoyed hand massages and makerovers.

Once seated under the Wisteria nearby the beautiful Amazon Waterlily Pavilion, guests were hosted by ever-charming and entertaining Jane Doyle as MC with a welcome to our special guests including; Foundation Chair – Ruth Hemmerling, Board of the Botanic Gardens of Adelaide Chair - Judy Potter, Garden of Health Ambassador - Alex Schultz, Sophie Thomson ABC Gardening Australia, Adele Fragnito whom you’ll remember from the popular Masterchef series and Chief Winemaker Orlando Wines - Rebekah Richardson. 

Jacob's Creek provided perfectly matched wines, which delighted our guests, all to complement John Edwards of the Botanic Gardens Restaurant's 3 course menu.  Our thanks to Jacob's Creek for their generous donation of the wines enjoyed.

Guests enjoyed bidding on two beautiful Live Auction items as auctioned by Vivienne Twelftree of Twelftree Estates.  Thanks to Joshua Thorpe of Pencraft the Boutique and Georgina Young of Georgie Lou for their beautiful Auction items. Congratulations to our Door Prize Winners and Gardens Delight Raffle Winners.  We also thank those guests who made pledges on the day. 

The inaugural Ladies Day Luncheon Under the Wisteria celebrated the start of a new tradition and while fundraising results are currently being tallied, all agreed it was a successful and enjoyable afternoon.
