Founding director George Francis applied immense energy to the establishment of the Gardens recognising the important economic role they had to play in the development of our flegdling colony.

Schomburgk Circle

Widely regarded as the Garden's most influential director Richard Schomburgk was an enthusiastic and tireless innovator credited with developing a garden of great beauty and scientific merit.

Morley Circle

Charismatic scholar Brian Morley married science with art during a two decade tenure that developed the Adelaide Gardens to exacting standard whilst substantially broadening their community and educational roles.

Holtze Circle

Leading the Gardens through recession, drought and the Great War, Maurice Holtze was a democratic man, jettisoning stringent rules and regulations so that visitors might truly enjoy the Gardens.
